Start with the places you serve

Why one New Jersey page cannot cover the state

New Jersey service businesses win work town by town, and Lithium Marketing builds the website, runs the SEO and ads, and answers calls from those towns.

20 of New Jersey's 21 counties sit inside the New York City or Philadelphia combined statistical areas, so most of the state lies within one of those two metro areas. Pick the towns where you want the next job, and the city pages, the ad targeting and the phone answering can follow that list.

Cities you can compare

New Jersey cities with their own page

New Jersey municipalities tend to be geographically small, so each city needs its own page. Newark, Jersey City, Paterson, Elizabeth, Edison, Toms River, Lakewood and Woodbridge each have one.

Housing across New Jersey

What New Jersey's housing stock means for your website

New Jersey's median build year is 1970, so older homes make up a large share of the state's housing stock. For repair and replacement work, show the failed part and the finished job, with photos from the property, so a homeowner can see the work you do on a house like theirs.

Homes built in 2010 or later make up 7.3% of New Jersey's housing stock. If you work on newer homes, give that work, from additions and finishes to new systems, its own page and photos, separate from repairs on older houses.

Trades across the state

The trade mix behind the calls

3,454 New Jersey contractors work in plumbing, heating and air-conditioning, and 2,641 in electrical. Those trades cover emergency repairs and planned replacements, so your page should make the next step obvious. Show the towns you cover and put a tap-to-call button at the top of your home page.

Landscaping establishments number 4,734 across New Jersey, and residential remodelers number 4,300. Both categories include project work, so give a homeowner the scope, photos and price before asking for a call. Give each service its own page and its own finished-job photos; a spring cleanup and a patio build should not share one page.

FAQ

New Jersey marketing questions, answered

Still curious?

Call (503) 766-5964 or email [email protected].

Which city should we target first?

The first page belongs in the city where your crews can pick up the next job, whatever its size. One service in one city is enough for a first page on your site. Add the next city once you have local photos, reviews and a few booked jobs to point to, and keep the phone number and form the same across every page.

Should we build one page for the whole state or pages for each city?

Build city and service pages first. A statewide page can help, but it should not lead the plan. Statewide searches come from business owners shopping for an agency, while the calls your crews want come from searches that name a trade and a town. Decide whether a statewide page earns its place after the city pages are working.

We work on both sides of the New York and Philadelphia metros. What changes?

You need a separate city list and separate pages for each side of the metro boundary. The counties closest to New York City sit in its metro, and the southwestern counties sit in the Philadelphia metro. One service-area page cannot serve both, and a campaign that covers both should have separate budgets.

What do we own, and how long is the agreement?

The site is yours, from the domain and hosting to the WordPress install and content. The first term is six months. After that, the agreement runs month to month, and 30 days' notice ends it. There's no contract on the AI receptionist, so you can stop it whenever you choose.

How soon can we judge whether a city page is working?

Judge a city page after two to three months, on calls and booked jobs, once local search visibility has had time to build. Early Google Ads results usually show up in the first week, a new site usually launches six to nine weeks after kickoff, and most technical SEO fixes take effect within a month.
