Your town list comes first

Which South Dakota cities buy the work you sell

Lithium Marketing builds the website, runs the SEO and Google Ads, and answers the phone with an AI receptionist for South Dakota service businesses. We start with the towns where your crews can take work, because that list decides which pages, campaigns and phone setup come first.

The Missouri River bisects the state into two geographically and socially distinct halves, East River and West River, and Eastern South Dakota is home to most of its population. A business with crews on both sides is selling in two markets, so each side gets its own city list and its own ad schedule, even when the services are the same.

Five city guides

Start with the South Dakota city you know

Sioux Falls, Rapid City, Aberdeen, Brookings and Watertown are the five covered markets, and each has its own page. Start with the one where your crews already book work, then compare the next town on your list.

Housing stock and working seasons

The houses your pages have to explain

49.7% of South Dakota homes were built before 1980, and 15.5% were built in 2010 or later. Repair and replacement pages fit the older stock; additions and finishes fit the newer homes. Show a finished job from the kind of house you want more of, and give repair work and new construction separate pages.

South Dakota has a continental climate with four distinct seasons, ranging from cold, dry winters to warm and semi-humid summers. If weather sets your outdoor schedule, tell us the months each crew can work, and the ads can follow that calendar. A roofer and a landscaper face different working seasons, so the schedule is set per trade and per town.

The trades behind the state totals

Builders, remodelers and the repair trades

South Dakota has 504 new home builders and 495 residential remodelers, the two largest trade counts in the state. Both sell a homeowner a planned project, so their pages carry plans, photos and a clear first step. If you handle repairs, your page has to say what you fix and who to call.

401 plumbing, heating and air-conditioning contractors and 376 landscaping services work statewide. Those are two different businesses, and a customer searching for one does not want the other. Give each trade its own page, with the town in the title, so a search for a repair or a landscape installation lands on the right offer.

FAQ

Questions from owners who cover several towns

DJ Van Zanten

Still curious?

Call (503) 766-5964 or email [email protected].

Which South Dakota city should we start with?

The one where your crews already have steady work. That market has customers who know your name, so a page there has a better chance of earning a call. Read that guide, then read the guide for the next town on your list, and compare the searches each one shows. Add the second town when the first has pages and reviews behind it.

Do we need a separate page for every town we cover?

Only where the town has its own searches and enough work to justify a page. A page that lists every town answers no single search well, because the customer searched one name. Pick the towns where you want more jobs, give each a page with its own photos and coverage, and leave the rest for later.

What moves the monthly cost?

Scope moves the number. For SEO, the towns you target, the condition of your site and the value of a booked job all move it. For Google Ads, the management fee follows ad spend, the channels you run and the landing pages, while the ad budget goes to Google.

Who owns the website, and what are the contract terms?

You do. The domain, hosting, WordPress installation and content belong to your business, and a private Loom walkthrough shows your team how to edit the pages. Most services start with a six-month term, then run month to month.

Can the AI receptionist handle calls from several towns?

It can. Give it your coverage list, the services you take in each town and the phone numbers for transfers to a real person, and it answers every call with those details. It books appointments, sends follow-up texts and passes a call to a person when asked. The AI receptionist costs $179 a month, with no contract and no setup fee. We check the calendar and CRM connections before we set up booking.
